It is no secret that being laid off is a nagging concern on almost every one’s mind. Losing your job. Getting the axe. “We’re going to have to let you go”. The list goes on and on. We hear about people getting laid off and losing their jobs: our neighbors, our friends, and our family members. We hear unemployment numbers increasing every month (9.4 % as of writing).  Do we live in fear? Do we work hard to make ourselves too valuable for a company to lose? Can we even avoid being laid off? Do we start saving for the rainy day, suck up to the boss, or start looking for another job just in case? We ask those who have been let go, “How did you get laid off,” hoping to avoid their same mistakes. Even amongst all the recent economic woes, there is hope for a recovery in the big picture.
