Even though spending may seem like a tremendous challenge, there are many small steps that you can take to save money. One of the many things you can do to save money is to set aside one day week where you will not spend any money.

This in itself may be a challenge for you. Try it out and see if you can do it. By not spending one day a week, you could save between $5 and $75, or even more.

This may require you to take a lunch instead of buying one, but the money you save could be worth it. Be sure to take this money and put it into savings so that you will have it for a raining day. Once you have mastered not spending for one day a week, try not to spend for an entire week during the month.

See if a friend or family member is replacing their computer and is getting rid of their old one

    1. Look for a free computer online
    2. Purchase a used computer as these are often offered at discounts
    3. Purchase a refurbished computer for the same reason
    4. Look for online coupons and deals
    5. Watch Ebay and other auction sites
    6. Make your own computer
    7. Go smaller rather than larger
    8. Do not accept financing

Unfortunately, many couples have not talked about their financial goals. This makes it very hard to work towards them. There are many goals that you may want to talk about and set with your spouse. Some of the goals you may want to consider include:

    • Building a savings account of a certain amount
    • Earning enough to buy a house
    • Getting out of debt
    • Being prepared to take care of your parents as they age
    • Paying for a child’s higher education
    • Creating a large enough retirement savings

These are all important things that you may want to work towards at different points in your life. However, you must talk about them with your spouse if you are going to successfully achieve any of these things.
