For the Airbus A320s, the deliveries have been decreased by half, from eight to four air crafts. Alternatively in the case of the Embraer 190s, the decrease in deliveries is significantly smaller, from five to four air crafts.

These delivery cut backs are only for the year 2010. In the year 2012, JetBlue plans to further decrease their deliveries to only two Airbus A320 deliveries and seven Embraer 190s. In contrast, as recently as 2006, Jet Blue was accepting the deliveries of a new plane every 10 days.

The change in JetBlue’s air craft deliveries comes from the fact that by controlling the airline’s growth, they will also be steadying the airline’s cost.

This information was released on Tuesday afternoon by JetBlue’s CEO, Dave Barger, at a investor conference.

Dave Barger

It is under Dave Barger’s influence that these policies are taking effect. Since his being named Cheif Executive Officer in 2007, Barger has taken a special interest in curbing JetBlue’s growth. By curbing the airline’s growth, Barger is able to avoid the types of losses that much larger airlines have begun to accumulate.

Barger actually founded JetBlue in 1998 with the idea of putting humanity back into air travel. Under his leadership JetBlue has won the Airbus Operational Excellence Award. Similarly, under Barger’s direction, JetBlue has introduced “BetaBlue” which is a unique air craft designed to allow for instant messaging and onboard e-mail. “BetaBlue” was the first air craft of its kind.

As we said in a previous blog post, executives are still dealing with constant Toyota car recalls. Unfortunately, on the same day as a demonstration on how car computers can’t make the accelerator pedal stick a Southern Californian man had the ride of his life with his runaway Toyota Prius.

When police officers started tailing driver James Sikes near San Diego, he was already going at the steady clip of 90 miles per hour, and even with his brakes on he couldn’t bring the car to a complete stop. Police officers had to coach him on their squad car’s PA system to slow down the runaway 2008 Prius with the emergency brake. Once he hit 50 miles per hour Sikes could safely turn off his car.

This may not seem like a big deal, and in my opinion under most circumstances it wouldn’t be. However, with the recent doubt cast upon Toyota’ automobiles and their reliability, this is disastrous.

Think about it: it’s not just the latest recalled models that may have problems with he accelerator, but even a slightly older model from 2008 had the same issues. Not to mention the fact that federal agents came to the scene to investigate the incident, supposedly taking the car in for inspection according to CSNBC.

Hopefully Toyota can recover from this setback soon. According to the latest issue of Consumer Reports Toyota is still a top-rated brand, with its Prius winning the “Green Car of the Year” award from the prestigious magazine. The facts may still be going for the Japan-based automotive company, but a bad reputation in the public sector can ruin even the best car out there.

Yes, you read it correctly. Puma, the clothing manufacturer, has introduced a new stock ticker application for your iphone or desktop. So what does Puma have to do with my finances or tracking my stocks? We weren’t sure either so we decided to look into it.

After perusing around the Puma Index for a bit here is what we came up with. Puma and their partnered advertising agency Droga5 wanted to provide a little entertainment for those individuals who were constantly checking up on their stocks and slowly watching their finances get stripped amidst this recession. So they developed an entertaining way to combine a falling market and their numerous product lines.

After downloading the app to your iphone you are met with your standard looking stock ticker, but in the background there is a model that lives according to the rise and fall of the market. At the beginning you can choose to either have a male or female avatar in the background where they will perform daily routine activities like ironing their clothes or eating a meal.

But the twist to this app is that the more the market falls, the more the featured models take off their puma wear. Now there’s no need to fear, this app is rated PG or at least that has been what we have seen so far. We haven’t seen what type of an effect a dramatic one day crash will have on these avatars.

So the concept is simple, when times are bad provide a little entertainment for those who are losing their nest egg by watching some avatars seemingly lose their clothes. But when times are good, why not show off some of Puma’s outerwear, who knows, with the money you just made you just might be in the mood for a new Puma zippy.

Feel free to take a live look into their stock ticker at http://theindex.puma.com/ And while we are on the subject of Puma entering new markets, there are rumors floating around that Puma and Sagem Wireless have launched a new phone in Spain? Maybe Puma should just stick with what they do best. Clothes.

Wall Street has been in quite a slump for the past two months. Seeing as they have been the worst months in the past year, it was very encouraging to see the stock markets begin to rise today.

The start of a new month coupled with strong gains, better-than-expected reports on personal income and Exxon Mobil’s profit gave the markets hope, early today.

The Dow Jones industrial average rose 1.2% early this morning while the S&P 500 index gained 1.4%.

Many financial specialists believe that there will be a deeper selloff as they look forward.

The market is up more than 50% from the lows of last March so a correction of 10% to 15% was not out of the question.

This encouraging news can be attributed to many different pieces of encouraging news. A better-than-expected consumer confidence report, the start of the two-day Federal Reserve meeting and Apple’s excellent quarterly reports all attributed to the rise in the market.

Stocks have been surging since March at a rate of 60%, but that doesn’t mean retirement hopefuls are benefiting or that the stocks will continue that way. The 401K of anyone working at one place over 10 years is still down from 2 years ago and 42% of people over 50 don’t think they will have enough money to retire.

The government has enacted a plan giving anyone over 50 the chance to make catch-up contributions to their 401K. The limit right now is 16,500 but the government is allowing anyone over 50 to contribute an extra 5,500 a year.

How will anyone be able to find all this extra money? Start with the kids. Nine out of 10 parents admit they help out their kids which is effecting their own retirement plans.

Downsize some things such as cable, cell phones, and cars. It’s also a good idea to invest with caution. While it might seem difficult, take advantage of the retirement catch up plan.
