I know, that is not something you hear from me everyday. But I am getting sick and tired of all the pessimists in this country and the so called experts who do nothing but predict doom and gloom all day. The economy is really not as bad as they would have you believe. The market runs on psychology alone, and as our great president once said “The only thing to fear is fear itself.” We cannot fear just because people are trying to scare us.

The best thing to do is make a gift budget and then go spend money. Retail stores are offering great deals to attract buyers. Take advantage of the deals. I know they are saying we have passed 6% in our unemployment rate, but think of this: How many help wanted ads are there in the classified section of your newspaper? I’m betting that although millions are out of work, millions of jobs are actually available that they simply will not take. Unemployment is no metric for how well our economy is doing. It is a great metric to see how lazy we are getting. Grab the spatula and get into a McDonald’s if you have to. There are plenty of jobs for the unemployed, they just have to make a sacrifice and take them.

Companies may be posting lower profits, but they are still posting profits. Exxon-Mobil posted American record setting profits just this year! How can people say everything is so bad? The only thing that is bad is the government meddling with everything. if they would have never gotten as involved as they were, none of this supposed crisis would have ever happened. There would be no Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac. There would be no bad loans outstanding. Now they want to bail out automakers? When will our government learn that the answer is not to throw more money at a problem?

The best thing you and I can do is live life as normal. Spend money, buy things, save money for rainy days. And remember that the only thing to fear is fear itself.
