It is no secret that being laid off is a nagging concern on almost every one’s mind. Losing your job. Getting the axe. “We’re going to have to let you go”. The list goes on and on. We hear about people getting laid off and losing their jobs: our neighbors, our friends, and our family members. We hear unemployment numbers increasing every month (9.4 % as of writing). Do we live in fear? Do we work hard to make ourselves too valuable for a company to lose? Can we even avoid being laid off? Do we start saving for the rainy day, suck up to the boss, or start looking for another job just in case? We ask those who have been let go, “How did you get laid off,” hoping to avoid their same mistakes. Even amongst all the recent economic woes, there is hope for a recovery in the big picture.
Analysts are now saying that job losses are slowing and that the economy is showing classic signs of a late recession period. With the jobless rate the highest it has been in 25 years, job losses are finally slowing. That means a time of recovery is on the horizon, but we can never know for sure. So how do you cope with a recent job loss?
Today I ran across a humorous blog posing the question: how did you get laid off? Every one’s story is a little different.
