Simple Money Saving Tips
Filed under Money Saving TipsNov 13I found some easy money saving tips from a great blog, I Will Teach You To Be Rich. His tips teach people how to save $1,000 in 30 days. It is a bit challenging to implement all the tips, especially if you are already money conscious. But I wanted to share his money saving tips because I think they are very helpful.
1. Pack a lunch for the rest of the week
Groceries are cheaper than eating out. Pack your own lunch and skip McDonald’s for a week. Big money saver.
2. Turn down the thermostat by 3 degrees
Chances are you can’t tell the difference between 76 degrees and 73 degrees. Lower that thermostat and you can save on your energy expenses.
3. Sell on eBay
Every living soul has something in their possession that can be sold on eBay. Accounts are free, so get one and sell something, you can make money doing it.
4. Involve others
It is much easier to discipline yourself when others know your goals. Tell family and friends what you are trying to do financially and ask for their help in following up with you. Being more accountable to others will help immensely.
5. Fix your cell phone bill
Many people pay more than they are using. There are a lot of people who could go from 900 to 600 minutes or 500 to 250 texts and not have to change their lifestyle at all. Look into your usage and adjust your plan accordingly.
6. Use gas prices as a hedge fund
This means that when gas prices go down, do not go and spend the money you saved. Put it away for the day when gas prices go back up. Gas is almost $2.00 a gallon right now. If it used to cost you $40 to fill up and now it only costs you $30, then put the extra $10 into savings and use those savings to help pay for gas when it goes up again.
7. Have a no spend day
Pick a day of the week each week in which you will not spend anything. This can really help.
Thank you Ramit for the great money saving tips! Take his money saving challenge and see how you do!
