Even though groceries are a necessary expense, there are many ways you can cut your grocery bill and save money in this area. Here are a few tips you may want to consider implementing:

1.	Shop at different stores: Different stores will have different sales and different savings

2.	Plan ahead: Stopping to get dinner at the last minute can cause dinner to be very expensive

3.	Purchase in season: Produce is very health and quite cheap when it is in season

4.	Look down or up: The most expensive things are generally placed at eye level

5.	Do not take your children with you: Children will often make requests for things that were not originally on your grocery list By finding new ways to cut your grocery bill, without cutting the amount of food you purchase, you will be able to save a lot of money.

As you stand at the checkout would you like to walk away with more bang for your buck? Here are some simple grocery shopping tips to help you save on groceries:

1) Eat first. Don’t go to the store hungry, you will be tempted to buy more than you need.

2) Choose the right store. If you like fresh produce find a store that sells the freshest fruits and vegetables (they will last longer and taste better.)

3) Watch the scanner. Mistakes are easy to make, but you don’t want to have to pay for them. Be observant and watch the prices as they pop up on the screen.

4) Don’t be afraid to try the store brand. I was pretty brand loyal to Kraft when it came to Mac and Cheese. I decided to have a taste test with a few different brands and see if it really was the best. I found that I liked the store brands almost just as much. Often you can’t even tell a difference.

5) Live on the edge. All the healthful foods are on the outside perimeter of the store. Once you start going down the isles is where the processed foods are located. Stay healthier by living on the edge.

6) Make a list. This will help you stay focus on the things you want and need. It will also help you plan and organize your meals.

7) Make one big trip. Making a list is a key tool to help you achieve making one trip to the store. It will save you time not to mention money on gas.
Know what you use. What type of foods do you eat or use often in cooking? Stock up on these items and buy in bulk when they are on sale. Items like flour, sugar, salad dressings, ketchup, syrup, egg/milk powder, cake mixes, etc. can be great things to have on hand and buy when you can get a bargain.

Make a goal to become a better grocery shopper!

With food so readily available it is easy to waste money on food. Consider this situation. You’re driving down the road and all of a sudden you realize you are hungry. You decide to go to a fast food restaurant to fix your pangs.

When you arrive at the fast food chain restaurant you quickly peruse their menu and discover that anything less than $3.00 will promote cardiac arrest. You choose to avoid this by going with a more expensive and healthy option.

It is wise to avoid the unnecessary saturated fat but you are also incurring unnecessary costs. We all lose so much money to high cost food. If we can simply plan ahead and prepare food from grocery stores we will save ourselves hundreds of dollars each year.
