I’ve been watching the financial news this week and I’ve got to tell you, there’s been some good news, bad news, and downright ugly news. Let’s start with the good.

A report issued on Tuesday showed economic uncertainty has people paying off more debt and saving more money. What great news! Unlike the government, people are not throwing money at failing institutions and businesses to try and save them. The liberal response of having the government spend more money to fix the problem is not a winning strategy here. That was already proven when Paulson gave billions to banks to save them. They turned around and used the money to buy other failing banks. Americans are figuring out what to do in these times and it’s great. Don’t go out and spend, spend, spend. Buy what you need to and save the rest. Get out of debt. You’ve got to think of helping yourself before you “help the economy” by spending yoruself back into debt. Good news.

Exxon-Mobile just reported a new American record for profits. They made over $14 billion dollars in profits in the third quarter. That breaks their own record of $12 billion which was in the first quarter. How is that bad news? Let’s think about this for a second. Gas prices were soaring, people demanded regulation of gas prices, it wasn’t done because it wasn’t fair to punish oil companies for the rising costs of oil. Do we need any more proof that we were lied to? Obviously the rise in gas prices wasn’t to offset any rise in the cost of oil. The big oil companies are posting record profits! Can there be a more crooked, corrupt company in the world? Bad news.

John McCain calls for $200 billion dollars in tax cuts to mega corporations. Guess who that is? Exxon-Mobile and others like it. Yup, the ones posting record profits needs a break apparently. The ones shipping jobs oversees to cut costs and screw America need a break. Is John McCain completely dillusional? How increidbly stupid can a human being possibly be? You have a guy who will cut taxes for 95% of working families, and you have a guy who will cut taxes for the richest 1% of the population. How is that a plan that will get votes? How is cutting their taxes going to help those of us struggling? Do the big executives making billions of dollars really need more just to keep their heads above water? McCain’s plan is absolutely astonishing; or in his word, “remarkable.” He always acts like Obama’s plans are so far out there, so “remarkable.” Yeah, some are, Obama is pretty liberal, but last time I checked, tax cuts are a conservative principle. 95% of us will get one with that “liberal” Senator. McCain’s campaign has been pretty bad all along, but the recent news has just exposed his campaign as the ugly beast it is.

  1. Gahhh! Things are so messed up right now. I am not sure this election is going to change anything either way.
